Subject : Your message regarding Newroz
celebrations
Dear Prime Minister,
We are
writing in regard to your recent message for the Newroz celebrations and your
reference to calling it the ‘Kurdish New Year’. There seems to be a
misconception amongst many politicians and local authorities including the GLA
regarding the true meaning of Newroz and by whom it is celebrated. This
misconception causes serious distress and frustration among the many communities
in Britain and we would like to inform you about the thoughts and feelings of
the Turkish community which is common to the views of many other communities who
have celebrated Newroz for centuries. |
